The ROSAT Bright Source 1RXS J201607.0+251645: An Active Algol-type Binary
نویسندگان
چکیده
1RXS J201607.0+251645 is identified to be an eclipsing binary. We present the preliminary observations in V band with the 0.6-m telescope for three years and the extensive observations in V and R band with the 0.8-m telescope for six nights, respectively. The light curve of the system is EB type. Five light minimum times were obtained and the orbital period of 0. 388058(±0. 00044) is determined. The photometric solution given by the 2003-version Wilson-Devinney program suggests the binary is a semi-detached system with the photometric mass ratio 0.895(±0.006), which probably comprises a G5 primary and an oversize K5 secondary. The less massive component has completely filled its Roche lobe, while the other almost fills its Roche lobe with the filling factor of 93.4%. The system shows a varying O’Connell effect in its phase folded diagrams from 2005 to 2007, and is X-ray luminous with logLX/Lbol ∼ −3.27. Possible mechanisms to account for these two phenomena are discussed. Finally, we infer the binary may be in thermal oscillation or may evolve into a contact binary.

The isolated neutron star candidate RBS 1223 ( 1 RXS
In the ROSAT Bright Survey (RBS) we have almost completely optically identified the brightest ∼2000 high-galactic latitude sources from the ROSAT All-Sky Survey Bright Source Catalogue (1RXS). A small number of sources has empty X-ray error circles on optical images. ROSAT HRI follow-up observations of RBS1223 (=1RXS J130848.6+212708), a soft object with extreme X-ray to optical flux ratio, hav...

We present the ROSAT All-Sky Survey Bright Source Catalogue (RASS-BSC, revision 1RXS) derived from the all-sky survey performed during the first half year (1990/91) of the ROSAT mission. 18,811 sources are catalogued (i) down to a limiting ROSAT PSPC count-rate of 0.05 cts s−1 in the 0.1−2.4 keV energy band, (ii) with a detection likelihood of at least 15 and (iii) at least 15 source counts. متن کاملAPMPM J0237-5928: a new nearby active M5 dwarf detected in a high proper motion survey of the Southern sky
A new bright (R = 13.4) high proper motion star has been detected within our survey of the Southern sky using APM measurements of UK Schmidt plates (Scholz et al. 1999). This star, APMPM J0237-5928 showing the largest proper motion (μ = 0.77 arcsec/yr) among the newly discovered relatively bright (11 < R < 15) proper motion stars in 40 UKST fields, was identified with an X-ray source in the ROS...
متن کاملA New Isolated Neutron Star Candidate ⋆
We report on the identification of a new possible Isolated Neutron Star candidate in archival ROSAT observations. The source 1RXS J214303.7+065419, listed in the ROSAT Bright Survey as RBS 1774, is very soft, exhibits a thermal spectrum well fitted by a blackbody at T ∼ 90 eV and has a low column density, NH ∼ 5 × 10 20 cm −2. Catalogue searches revealed no known sources in other energy bands c...
متن کاملThe Hamburg / RASS optical identification project
We use digitized Schmidt direct and prism plates taken for the northern hemisphere Hamburg Quasar Survey (HQS) to obtain optical identifications for all high galactic latitude X-ray sources in the ROSAT Bright Source Catalogue (RASS-BSC) at |b| ≥ 30 • and δ ≥ 0 •. In this part of the sky the RASS-BSC contains about 5300 X-ray sources. Presently, identifications exist for ∼ 4100 RASS-BSC sources...
